Our 2017 Spring Gala was held on Saturday, April 22nd at the Glen Oaks Country Club in Farmington Hills. This was our main fundraising event this year and the evening raised over $45K for the foundation to continue their support of programs in the Farmington and Farmington Hills area that improve the quality of life for children, youth and families in the community.
The gala was a fun-filled evening expertly emceed by meteorologist and Farmington Hills resident Chris Edwards. Guests were entertained by dueling piano act “Piano Wars!” with Dave Caruso and Paul Bickle. A raffle, live auction and silent auction helped to boost funds raised on the evening and FFHFYF would like to thank all the individuals and businesses that generously donated items. We would also like to thank all our event sponsors for their support.
At the event FFHFYF presented Todd Lipa with the 2017 Riley Award for Altruism. This award is made each year by the foundation to an individual from the community who has made a significant contribution to the communities of Farmington and Farmington Hills. Todd was born and raised in Farmington Hills and was one of the co-founders of the After-School Youth Center program in 1996. He is currently the Program Director for the City of Farmington Hills After-School Youth Center Program and is also involved in numerous other community projects. Todd has been instrumental in raising significant funds for both the After-School Program and other community causes and programs, and consistently gives a considerable amount of his time and energy to groups that help families in need and support children and youth. Todd’s work and involvement in the community continues to make a significant and lasting difference in the lives of many families in Farmington and Farmington Hills, making him a very worthy recipient of this award.
