FFHFYF Presents Grant to The Farmington Musicale

FFHFYF Trustee Matt Friedrich presented a grant award check for $500 to Anne Greenstein of the Farmington Musicale on December 4th, 2017.

The Farmington Musicale was formed in 1965 and is a local chapter of both the Michigan Federation of Music Clubs and the National Federation of Music Clubs.  The club has a diverse group of members; professional performers, music teachers, amateur performers as well as people who are not musical but enjoy attending concerts.

The Farmington Musicale offers several different types of musical programs for adults including free monthly programs.  For the 2017/18 season the Farmington Musicale is presenting 7 free concerts to the community consisting of piano, winds, strings or vocal music at the Farmington Community Library and St. John Lutheran Church.  The grant award from FFHFYF will assist with the rental fees for the concert venues.  The Farmington Musicale also has a community outreach program where they perform for various senior clubs or Assisted Living Homes in the area.

Programs for young music students are also very important to the Farmington Musicale and include the annual “Awards for Musical Excellence” competition where the club invites music students in the community to compete for cash prizes in vocal, piano, strings or other instrumental categories.  The Farmington Musicale also offers scholarship assistance to local music students and has awarded over $40,000 since 2007.

Details of upcoming performances, membership and scholarship award programs can be found on the Farmington Musicale website: www.farmingtonmusicale.org
